第96回アカデミー賞が昨夜（3月10日）開催され、予想通りの結果となった。クリストファー・ノーラン監督の『オッペンハイマー』は、作品賞、監督賞、主演男優賞（シリアン・マーフィ）、助演男優賞（ロバート・ダウニー・Jr）を含む7部門を受賞し、コンペティションを席巻した。
今回もまた、大方の予想通り、ヨルゴス・ランティモスの『プア・シングス』も健闘し、エマ・ストーンは、マーティン・スコセッシ監督の『花ざかりの君たちへ』の演技でリリー・グラッドストーンが最有力候補だったにもかかわらず、（2017年の『ラ・ラ・ランド』での受賞に続き）2度目の主演女優賞まで獲得した。
ミッキーマウスクラブで鍛えたライアン・ゴズリングは、ステージで『バービー』の「I'm Just Ken」を披露して輝いたが、ビリー・エイリッシュとフィニアス兄弟がグラミー賞を受賞したサウンドトラック「What Was I Made For?」、ジョナサン・グレイザーが監督した『ゾーン・オブ・インタレスト』も2部門を受賞した。日本映画界からは「ゴジラ-1.0」と「君たちはどう生きるか」が受賞。
