時代の評価軸を静かにすり抜けながら、現在進行形で更新を続ける孤高のテクノプロデューサー、Shinichi Atobe(シンイチ・アトベ)。最新作「Discipline」がPitchfork誌の「The 30 Best Electronic Albums of 2025」に名を連ねたほか、代表曲「Butterfly Effect」がResident Advisorの「The Best Electronic Tracks of 2000–25」に選出されている。セルフレーベルPlastic & Soundsからのカタログ002のEP「A1.SynthScale A2.Disappear | AA.Between Thoughts」が本日リリースされました。

Basic Channel傘下のChain Reactionから2001年にデビュー以来、10年以上の沈黙を経て、2014年以降、UK・マンチェスターのレーベルDDSよりコンスタントにリリースを重ね、ダブテクノ／ミニマル等のクラブオーディエンスのみならず、全世界の熱心な音楽ファンを魅了する電子音楽家【Shinichi Atobe】。

本年7月突如始動させたプライベート・レーベル【Plastic & Sounds】より、第二弾となるリリース「A1.SynthScale A2.Disappear | AA.Between Thoughts」が12INCH（33RPM/Limited Press）レコードとデジタルで本日リリース。　

昇降しながら展開するシンセと疾走感のあるリズムが絡み合いプログレッシブ・ロックの片鱗をも感じさせるエレベーション・シンセ・ダブ・テック「SynthScale」、続く「Disappear」は、浮遊する上音に突如出現するピアノ、突き進むリズムの合間に差し込まれるドラムの固め打ちがうねりをあげる。

10分を超える大作「Between Thoughts」は、野太いベースラインを主体にボイスサンプルが浸透し、柔らかくジェントルに展開するShinichi Atobe流の長編ミニマル・ハウス。マスタリング／レコード・カッティングには、Shinichi Atobeの作品を多数手がけてきたベルリンのRashad Beckerが担当。

昨年、10月、Resident Advisorの人気シリーズ「RA Podcast」に登場。2023年4月に行われた世界初ライブの音源が公開や渋谷WWWにて、Plastic & Soundsローンチ公演「"Plastic & Sounds" label launch party」をLoidis [US]、Deadbeat presents Ark Welders Guild [DE]、DJには、MOODMANを迎えて開催。

最新アルバム「Discipline」がPitchforkの「The 30 Best Electronic Albums of 2025」に、そして代表曲のひとつである「Butterfly Effect」がRA（Resident Advisor）の「The Best Electronic Tracks of 2000-25」に選出されるなど、国内外で注目が高まる中でのリリースとなる。

Since his debut in 2001 on Chain Reaction — the sublabel of the legendary Basic Channel — electronic music producer Shinichi Atobe has fascinated not only dub techno and minimal club audiences but also devoted music lovers around the world. After more than a decade of silence, he began releasing consistently from Manchester’s DDS (Demdike Stare’s label) in 2014, reaffirming his unique presence in contemporary electronic music.

In July of this year, Atobe suddenly launched his own private label, Plastic & Sounds, and now announces its second release, “A1. SynthScale / A2. Disappear | AA. Between Thoughts”, available as a 12-inch (33RPM / limited press) vinyl and in digital formats.

Opening track, elevation synth dub tech “SynthScale” intertwines ascending and descending synth lines with a driving rhythm, revealing hints of progressive rock within its elevation of synth-driven dub techno. “Disappear” follows with floating high tones, an unexpected piano motif, and bursts of tightly struck drums that create a surging momentum. The over ten-minute-long “Between Thoughts” centers on a deep, weighty bassline, interwoven with subtle voice samples, unfolding softly and gracefully into a long-form minimal house piece in Atobe’s unmistakable style.

Mastering and vinyl cutting were handled by Rashad Becker in Berlin, who has worked extensively on Atobe’s previous releases.

Last October, they appeared on Resident Advisor's popular series “RA Podcast”. Recordings from their world premiere live performance in April 2023 were released, and they held the “Plastic & Sounds” label launch party at Shibuya WWW, featuring Loidis [US], Deadbeat presents Ark Welders Guild [DE], and DJ MOODMAN. This release comes amidst growing international attention, with his latest album ‘Discipline’ featured in Pitchfork's ‘The 30 Best Electronic Albums of 2025’ and one of his signature tracks, ‘Butterfly Effect’, selected for RA（Resident Advisor）'s ‘The Best Electronic Tracks of 2000-25’.

Sinichi Atobe:

埼玉を拠点に活動する電子音楽家。ダブ・テクノ、その後の00年代の一大潮流"ミニマル"にまで至る90年代のカルト・レーベルBasic Channel傘下のChain Reactionからリリースされた12インチ「Ship-Scope」（2001年）でデビューを果たす。その10年後となる2010年代初頭、マンチェスターのデュオDemdike Stareの働きかけによりレーベルDDSから初のフル・アルバム「Butterfly Effect」（2014年）をリリース。

それ以来同レーベルからコンスタントに「World」（2016年）、「From The Heart, It's A Start, A Work of Art」（2017年）、「Heat」（2018年）、「Yes」（2020年）、「Love of Plastic」（2022年）、「Discipline」、EP「Ongaku 1」（2024年）をリリース。クラブオーディエンスだけでなく多くの音楽リスナーを獲得し、多様な音楽媒体からも定評を受けている。伝説化されたChain Reactionからのデビュー、DDSからのリリースをきっかけに世界に知れ渡ることになるものの、謎めいた稀有な存在として注目をされ続けている。2025年には自身のプライベート・レーベル【Plastic & Sounds】を設立。

Electronic artists based in Saitama, Japan.He made his debut with the 12-inch “Ship-Scope” (2001) released on Chain Reaction, a sub label of Basic Channel, a 90s cult label leading to dub techno and then the “minimal” trend of the 00s. A decade later, in early 2010s, he released his first full-length album, “Butterfly Effect” (2014) on DDS label by lobbying of Manchester duo Demdike Stare.

Since then, he has consistently released “World” (2016), “From The Heart, It's a Start, a Work of Art” (2017), “Heat” (2018), “Yes” (2020), “Love of Plastic” (2022),  “Discipline” and the EP ‘Ongaku 1’ (2024). He has garnered a large number of music listeners as well as club audiences and has received acclaim from various music media.

Although his debut on the legendary Chain Reaction and his releases on DDS have brought him to the attention of the world, he has remained an enigmatic and rare entity.In 2025, he established his own private label, "Plastic & Sounds" .
