Yannis & The Yow、2024年秋にアムステルダムとパリでソールドアウト公演を基にしたライブヴアルバム「Onstage」を発表

Yannis & The Yow(ヤニス＆ザ・ヨウ)は、広く絶賛されたEP「Lagos Paris London」（フィーチャリング：トニー・アレン）に続き、2024年秋にアムステルダムとパリでソールドアウト公演を含む一連のエネルギッシュなライブ・パフォーマンスを行った。 

これらのエレクトリックなコンサートを基にしたライヴ・アルバム「Onstage」が、本日Transgressive Recordsよりデジタル・リリースされ、11月14日には限定盤のダブル・ゲートフォールド・ブラック・ヴァイナルが発売される。

この6曲入りアルバムには、ヤニス＆ザ・ヨウのデビューEPに収録された、オールドスクールなアフロビートにインスパイアされた広がりのあるジャムが収録されている。

Onstage」には、EPのハイライトである「Night Green, Heavy Love」の衝撃的な拡大演奏、未発表曲「3」、1979年の画期的なレコード「Progress, Jealousy」に収録されているトニー・アレンの傑作「Afrodisco Beat」のまばゆいばかりのカヴァーが収録されている。 

Y&TYのツアー・バンドは、イギリスのFoalsのフロントマンでEPのクリエイティブ・フォースでもあるヤニス・フィリッパキスが率いた。  彼は、EPの主要コラボレーターであるヴィンセント・タウレル（鍵盤）とヴィンセント・テーガー（ドラム）、デイヴ・オクム（ギター、ザ・インヴィジブル）、セイエ・アデレカン（ベース、ゴリラズ）、そしてプロジェクトのヴィジュアル・コラボレーターであるキット・モンティス（パーカッション、シンセ）と共に参加した。

Yannis & The Yaw followed their critically acclaimed EP ‘Lagos Paris London’ (featuring Tony Allen) with a series of high-energy live performances, including sold-out shows in Amsterdam & Paris, during the Autumn of 2024. These electric concerts are now the basis for a live album ‘Onstage’, released digitally today via Transgressive Records, and on limited-edition double gatefold black vinyl on November 14th.

The 6-track offering showcases the expansive, old school Afrobeat-inspired jams from Yannis & The Yaw’s debut EP; capturing the spirit of the musicianship and personality that made the late, legendary Tony Allen such an inimitable figure.

‘Onstage’ includes an electrifying and extended rendition of EP highlight ‘Night Green, Heavy Love’ as well as a previously unreleased composition ‘3’ and a dazzling cover of the Tony Allen masterpiece 'Afrodisco Beat' from his groundbreaking 1979 record ‘Progress, Jealousy’. 

The Y&TY touring band was led by Yannis Philippakis, Foals frontman and creative force behind the EP.  He was joined by key EP collaborators Vincent Taurelle (keys) and Vincent Taeger (drums) along with Dave Okumu (guitar, The Invisible) Seye Adelekan (bass, Gorillaz) and the project’s visual collaborator Kit Monteith (percussion, synths).
