マンチェスターの気鋭のエレクトロニックプロデューサー、Demdike Stare(ダムダイク・ステアー）がその才能を見出したことで知られる埼玉のミニマル/ダブステップ・プロデューサー、Shinichi Atobeの最新の音源がデジタルで解禁となった。 日本国内でも最注目すべき制作者である。
埼玉は昔から住宅地の他、工業地帯が多く、工場からもくもくと立ち上る煙を見るのは日常的な光景だった。埼玉の風景……、それは東京のコンクリートがちの無機質な箱型建築の光景とはまったく異なる。彼のような工業的なサウンドを持つ制作者が出て来たのは必然といえるだろう。
シンイチ・アトベは、Basic Channel傘下のChain Reactionから2001年にデビュー。以来、10年以上の沈黙を経て、2014年からマンチェスターのレーベル”DDS”よりコンスタントにリリースを重ね、ダブテクノ/ミニマル等のクラブオーディエンスのみならず世界の熱心な音楽ファンを魅了してきた。
先日、Shinichi Atobeは自身のプライベートレーベル、Plastic & Soundsを設立した。第一弾となるリリース「A.Whispers into the Void | AA.Fleeting_637」が12INCH（45RPM/Limited Press）レコード/デジタルでリリースされる。あらためてこの音源を確認してもらいたい。
ミニマルなシンセとリズムからピアノのリフレインの導入と共に徐々に禁欲的に展開する「Whispers into the Void」。BPM125前後のフロアライクな没入感のあるミニマル・ダブ・テクノ「Fleeting_637」の2曲が収録される。
追記として、一曲目の「Whispers into the Void」は古典的なダブステップではなくて、その次世代に位置づけられる未来志向の色彩的なフューチャーステップの音楽である。一方、二曲目の「Fleeting_637」は、マンチェスターのクラブ・ハシエンダの８０年代後半のフロアサウンドに回帰したような多幸感に満ちたサウンドである。最初期のWarp/XLのカタログに見受けられるようなアンダーグランド界隈のダンスミュージックの熱狂的な空気感を見事に復刻している。
ただ、このサウンドの主な特徴は、ヒプノティックで内的な熱狂性に求められる。大型のモニターでは確認していないものの、サブベースの出方はかなり良い感じになっていると思う。また、ベタ張りのリズムではなく、ランタイムごとにうねるようなテンポの微細なズレが楽しめる。
Shinich Atobeのリリースの目的は音源のプロダクトの発表だけにとどまらないことは明白である。イギリスの産業的な要素を受け継ぎ、レコードが美術品であったり工業製品の雰囲気が感じられるようにプレスされている。部屋の壁などに飾るなんて楽しみ方もアリかもしれない。マスタリング／レコード・カッティングにもこだわりが込められ、Shinichi Atobeの作品を多数手がけてきたベルリンのアーティスト、Rashad Becker（ラシャード・ベッカー）が担当している。
また、Atobeは、伊豆の白浜で９月２７日から２８日にかけて開催予定のダンスミュージックやエレクトロニックに焦点を当てたフロア向けのライブイベント”FFKT”に出演予定。このイベントには国内外から秀逸なDJ/エレクトロニックプロデューサーがホテル伊豆急でライブを行う。
国内からはChanaz，北村蕗、Powderが出演、DJやライブを披露する。海外アーティストは、Huerco. S、Fabiano do Nacimento、Ash Rahなどが出演予定。イベントの詳細は下記より。

After more than 10 years of silence since his debut in 2001 on Chain Reaction subsidiary of Basic Channel, he has been consistently releasing music since 2014 on DDS label in Manchester, UK, attracting not only the club audience of dub techno / minimal but also the enthudieatic music fans around the world. Electronic musician Shinichi Atobe has established his own private label Plastic & Sounds.
The first release on Plastic & Sounds includes two tracks: ‘Whispers into the Void’, which gradually and ascetically develops from minimal synths and rhythms with the introduction of a flowing piano refrain, and the floor use ‘Fleeting_637’, which develops immersive minimal dub techno at around 125 BPM. Mastering / record cutting was done by Rashad Becker in Berlin, who has worked on many of Shinichi Atobe's productions.

He made his debut with the 12-inch “Ship-Scope” (2001) released on Chain Reaction, a sub label of Basic Channel, a 90s cult label leading to dub techno and then the “minimal” trend of the 00s. A decade later, in early 2010s, he released his first full-length album, “Butterfly Effect” (2014) on DDS label by lobbying of Manchester duo Demdike Stare.
Since then, he has consistently released “World” (2016), “From The Heart, It's a Start, a Work of Art” (2017), “Heat” (2018), “Yes” (2020), “Love of Plastic” (2022), “Discipline” and the EP ‘Ongaku 1’ (2024). He has garnered a large number of music listeners as well as club audiences and has received acclaim from various music media.
Although his debut on the legendary Chain Reaction and his releases on DDS have brought him to the attention of the world, he has remained an enigmatic and rare entity.
In 2025, he established his own private label, "Plastic & Sounds" .

シンイチ・アトベは、埼玉を拠点に活動する電子音楽家。ダブ・テクノ、その後の00年代の一大潮流"ミニマル"にまで至る90年代のカルト・レーベルBasic Channel傘下のChain Reactionからリリースされた12インチ「Ship-Scope」（2001年）でデビューを果たす。その10年後となる2010年代初頭、マンチェスターのデュオDemdike Stareの働きかけによりレーベルDDSから初のフル・アルバム「Butterfly Effect」（2014年）をリリース。
