August signed with RCA Records for the release of his debut single “Blue Football” gaining nods and critical acclaim.
In 2022 August Royals released his debut EP, Inhaler, a nine-track, multi-genre reflection of his own experiences and struggles. Departing from RCA, August decided to pause and spend time developing who he wanted to be as an artist. After working alongside artists such as Kevin Abstract of Brockhampton, Ryan Beatty, and Dominic Fike, August was ready to reevaluate his own taste and self-discovery as an artist.
After a year quietly spent offline and in the studio, August Royals has returned, coming into 2025 with a handful of songs that are his self-proclaimed “best to date and most authentic” with his first single “American Spirit” boasting a unique vocal performance that still maintains pop accessibility for new listeners.

Staci Gruber is a transformative Boston-based artist whose exceptional musical talents, storied songwriting, and emotional depth resonate deeply with her listeners. Music has been an intrinsic part of Staci’s life from an early age. カントリーソングの中には、世俗的な人生観を歌うというのが通例である。 「3-Sugar In The Tank」はその好例だ。アコースティックギターのラフなストロークから始まり、Ⅲ-Ⅳのスケールを行き来しながら、スティールギターの対旋律を楔にして歌が始まる。ジュリアン・ベイカーのリードボーカルは、彼女のポピュラー性という側面を強調させ、くつろいだ感覚を付与する。その後、ドラムの演奏が心地よいリズムを刻み、休符を途中にはさみながら、軽快なカントリーソングが紡がれる。そして、この曲では、日頃の生活から汲み出される感情を、つややかに歌い上げている。近年の均一化したポピュラーという内在的な音楽性を古典的なカントリーと組み合わせているのが秀逸だ。現在、この曲のストリーミング再生数は、アルバムの中では最も高くなっている。アルバムの中で、最も聴きやすく、そして親しみやすい一曲でもある。また、この曲ではバンジョーの演奏も登場する。これが曲全体に遊び心を付け加えている。
「4-Bottom of the a Bottle」は、デヴィッド・ボウイの最初期のフォーク・ソングを想起させるイントロではじまり、フィドル（弦楽器）の演奏を配したアメリカーナの雰囲気を強調させる。 この曲ではトーレスがリードボーカルを担い、精神的に円熟した感覚を思わせる。ポピュラーソングの普遍的な音楽は、トーレスの安定感のある重厚なボーカル、そして、ジュリアンの甘い雰囲気のある高いボーカルを中心として、明るい曲調から憂いのある曲調へと変遷を辿る。
「5-Downhill Both Ways」は段階的に半音ずつ降りていくスケールが導入されている。前の曲が和声的だとすれば、この曲は、対旋律的である。イントロから続くアコースティックギターを中心とする通奏低音を担う演奏にはスティールギターの伸びやかな対旋律をもたらし、そして、その後、アルペジオ（分散和音）が奏でられるアコースティックギターがもう一本追加される。
ただ、ギミックの演出のような大仰な感じはほとんどない。曲の延長線上にあるアレンジメントである。一方の「Off The Wagon」ではライブツアーのワンシーンのような情景が映画さながらに切り取られる。前の曲と聴き比べると、続き物のような感じで楽しむことが出来る。後者の曲は、ジャクソン・ブラウンの『Running On Empty』の収録曲「The Road」をわずかに彷彿とさせる。このアルバムの中盤の2曲ではアメリカらしい雄大さと哀愁を味わうことが出来るはずだ。
